Part of the 10 Acres group, 10 Acres Commons offers a modern Pacific Northwest atmosphere with lots of wood tones, chalkboards, and metal accents. It’s a large, casual spot open for lunch and dinner.

Highlights we enjoyed: a Chicken Curry Bowl with baby potatoes, green peas, jasmine rice, raita and naan; generous beer-battered Cod Fish & Chips made with local beer; and a hearty Spaghetti Frutti di Mare loaded with clams, mussels, prawns and squid. The seafood portions were generous and the dishes balanced and satisfying—great choices for fueling a day of sightseeing.

They feature a solid selection of local BC wines and beers. I tried a local Pinot Gris while my partner enjoyed a darker local ale. There isn’t a dedicated kids’ menu, but several main dishes translated well for our children.

🛶 Canoe (now closed)

Victoria’s microbrew and brewpub scene is lively, and Canoe Brewpub was a popular introduction to it during our visit. Located near the Inner Harbour, Canoe featured a classic Pacific Northwest brewpub look—exposed brick, large beams, and canoes suspended from the rafters.

A highlight was a five-beer sampler—cleverly called a “Fleet”—which lets you taste a range of the brewery’s current offerings. We enjoyed a crisp lager that had won recognition in Canadian brewing competitions.

We shared a traditional Caesar salad and a mussels starter braised in a fragrant curry-coconut broth with lemongrass and charred lime. The mussels were accompanied by grilled flatbread and a side of fries. Canoe was very family-friendly—reservations accepted, high chairs, stroller space, a kids’ menu with familiar favorites like grilled cheese and sliders, and attentive service.

🎣 LURE restaurant & Bar

LURE Restaurant and Bar, located on the waterfront in the hotel we stayed at, offered the best meal of our trip. The dining room is modern and bright with floor-to-ceiling windows and lovely harbour views.

Service was warm and professional. The menu leans contemporary Pacific Northwest with an emphasis on local seafood and seasonal ingredients.

🐠 The food at Lure

Standout dishes included a perfectly cooked Duck Breast served with farro and roasted seasonal vegetables in a smoked apple sauce and quince jus, and a seared Pacific Wild Salmon plated with brown-butter vegetables and crisp oatmeal cakes for texture. Both dishes were balanced, flavorful, and felt thoughtfully composed.

Dessert was a dark chocolate pot de crème with a crunchy caramelized top, while the kids enjoyed simple, well-presented ice cream treats. LURE offers smaller portions and straightforward main options that make it easy for families to dine comfortably.

The wine list and local beer selections complimented the menu well. LURE is a great choice for a special meal, a date night, or a family dinner with a view.
